With less than two months to the presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), some 18 Electoral Area Coordinators in the Sissala East Constituency on Saturday threw their weight behind former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Out of the 21 coordinators in the constituency, 18 publicly declared their support for the 2024 NPP presidential candidate.
The group said their endorsement is grounded in Dr. Bawumia’s competence, humility, and consistent commitment to the growth and values of the party and expressed confidence in his leadership and national vision.
“Eighteen of us are strongly supporting H.E., the former Vice President, and Insha Allah, the next President of the Republic of Ghana,” a spokesperson for the group said.
The NPP will hold a presidential primary on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer for the party as part of preparations for the next general elections in 2028.
Dr. Bawumia is among five contenders seeking the party’s flagbearer position. He faces competition from former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
