2026 NPP Primaries: Bawumia leads race with 52%, Ken Agyapong follows with 17%—Poll

With five months for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to go to the primaries to elect its flagbearer for the 2028 general election, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is leading the race for the presidential candidate sole slot, according to the latest poll by Global Info Analytics on Thursday.

The poll, which was conducted in 263 out of the country’s 276 constituencies, shows Dr. Bawumia leading the race with 52% support among NPP delegates ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

His closest contender, former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Agyapong, follows with 17%, with former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong polling 3%.

The rest are former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1%, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo, who each received less than 1%.

According to Global Info Analytics, 10% of delegates remain undecided, while 9% declined to disclose their preference for the polls.

In all, the poll surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses. Interviews were conducted from August 12 to 20, 2025, across 263 of the 276 constituencies using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). The survey has a confidence level of 99% and a margin of error of ±2.44%.

The NPP will hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election. Enditem
