2026 NPP Primaries: Global Info Analytics poll lacks credibility, integrity—Razak Kojo Opoku fires

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Founding President of the UP Tradition Institute, Razak Kojo Opoku, on Friday attacked the recent poll by Global Info Analytics that puts former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a commanding lead in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

Reacting to the findings of the poll, Opoku observed that the research failed to account for some 7.3% of votes and wants further clarity.

“We need some further explanation from Musa because the data analysis seems to lack credibility and integrity considering the fact that the survey has a confidence level of 99% and a margin of error of ±2.44,” he said.

The Global Info Analytics poll, which was conducted in 263 out of the country’s 276 constituencies, shows Dr. Bawumia leading the race with 52% support among NPP delegates ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

His closest contender, former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Agyapong, follows with 17%, with former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong polling 3%.

The rest are former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1%; former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo each received less than 1%, with 10.7% and 9% undecided and not disclosed, respectively.

The UP Tradition Founding President argues in a hypothetical situation that even if the remaining candidates polled 1% each, there would still be some 4.3% votes that need clarification.

“Hypothetically, even if we score Kwabena 1%, Boakye 1%, and Nimo 1%, the total score would be 95.7% out of 100%. Where is the remaining 4.3% (100-95.7%)?” he queried.

However, in a twist of events, Global Info Analytics has put out new figures contrary to what had been put out in the public domain when the poll was released on Thursday.

“When Musa was exposed, they quickly changed the Undecided figure from 10.7% to 18% to tally with 100%. However, unintelligently, they forgot to appreciate the fact that moving the Undecided figure from 10.7% to 18% would very likely affect the 99% Confidence level and the ±2.44 margin of error for the research. Some people, whenever they are overwhelmed by their lies/mistakes, end up defending, validating, normalizing, and legalizing such lies/mistakes,” added Kojo Opoku.

The main opposition head to the polls in January 2026 to elect its flagbearer to lead the party in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary election.

Some notable aspirants who have made their intentions clear of contesting the party’s primaries include former Vice President Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Byan Acheampong, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

The rest are former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, and party stalwart Addai Nimo. Enditem
