82-year-old Abraham Kwaku Adusei wins 2025 Best Farmer

Eighty-two-year-old Abraham Kwaku Adusei was on Friday adjudged the overall national best farmer in Ghana for 2025 at a ceremony held at Ho, capital of the Volta Region.

At the 41st edition of National Farmers’ Day held under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” Adusei, from the Kwahu Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region, was recognised for his decades-long dedication to agriculture, productivity, and adoption of innovative, sustainable farming practices.

As the top winner, he received a prize package that reportedly includes cash, a tractor and farm equipment, sprayers, and other tools—part of the awards for the Best Farmer at National Farmers’ Day.

The recognition of an 82-year-old farmer highlights the contribution of elder generations to Ghana’s agriculture and underlines that age does not preclude productivity or innovation.

It symbolizes respect for long-term commitment, resilience, and the ability to sustain large-scale farming even at advanced age.

The award could inspire youth and others to view farming not just as subsistence but as a serious business—especially given the substantial prize package and public acknowledgement. Enditem
