Kotoko beat Kwara United 1-0 to advance to CAF Confederation Cup next stage

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Kumasi Asante Kotoko advanced to the round of 32 after edging 1-0 past Kwara United of Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

The away team scored the only goal in the second-leg tie in the 54th minute through Herbert Gyau, silencing the vociferous home crowd.

Having conceded the goal, the Nigerian side piled pressure upon pressure on their opponents, but the Ghanaian club remained resolute in defense till the referee brought proceedings to an end.

With the win, Kotoko progresses to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup on a 5-3 aggregate, having won the first leg by 4-3 at the Accra Sports Stadium last week.

Kotoko will now face Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the second preliminary round, with the first leg scheduled between October 17 and 19, 2025, and the return fixture a week after. End item
