The government of Ghana will hold a state funeral for former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on November 28, according to a statement from the presidency on Thursday.
According to the statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the funeral will be held to recognise the contributions of the former First Lady to women advancement in Ghana.
“The Government of Ghana, under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, will hold a state funeral for the late former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Friday, November 28, at the Independence Square,” read the statement.
It added, “The state funeral is in recognition of Mrs Rawlings’ invaluable contributions to the advancement of the rights of women and children in Ghana, and national development.”
The longest serving Ghanaian First Lady who served between 1981 to 2000 died in the national capital on October 23 this year after a short illness. Enditem
