Pre-tertiary public sector teachers have taken a swipe at the John Mahama-led government for the failure to pay the continuous professional development (CPDA) and complementary instruction digital support allowance (CIDSA) for November 2025.
The teachers who were looking forward to the payment of the two allowances as contained in their collective bargaining agreement signed with the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government at the end of this month were shocked to the marrow when the various banks sent them alerts of their November salaries without the allowances.
According to various teacher platforms monitored by the Ghana Eye Report, the teachers expressed so much disappointment in the Mahama government after they received assurance that the allowances would be paid this month after the government failed to pay in October this year.
Some of the teachers saw the action by the government as disrespect to teachers and called on their various unions to declare a strike action with immediate effect.
“The GNAT executive should declare a strike with immediate effect tomorrow. How can you disrespect teachers by reneging on your side of the bargain of the CPDA and the digital allowances?” a disgruntled teacher posted on one of their WhatsApp platforms.
Another teacher also fumed by saying that even in a so-called “mismanaged economy” under President Akufo-Addo, the two allowances were paid without excuses.
“Is it that the government is not aware of the collective agreement that indicates clearly that both the CPDA and digital allowances were to be paid this month, or what? It will be a disappointment, and some of us are already disappointed. Even in a mismanaged economy, we were paid without useless excuses.”
Checks conducted by the Ghana Eye Report indicate that the two allowances that the government promised to pay pre-tertiary public sector teachers this month have not been paid by the government.
Meanwhile, a statement dated November 15, 2025, signed by the Controller & Accountant General, Kwasi Agyei and Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, announced that the CPDA and the CIDSA meant to be paid in November 2025 have been withheld for this month.
