Mahama delivers second state of the nation address today

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to deliver his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term today, Friday, February 27, 2026, before Parliament in the national capital, Accra.

The address scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Parliamentary Chamber, in line with Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, which requires the President to update Parliament and the nation on the state of the country and outline government priorities for the year ahead.

Mahama is expected to review economic performance of the government over the past year and outline policy priorities for 2026.

The President is also expected to provide updates on key initiatives such as the 24-Hour economy policy, the big push infrastructure programme, challenges in the cocoa and sector reforms, the Illegal mining (galamsey) fight and broader governance and development reforms.

The sitting will be presided over by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and attended by Members of Parliament (MPs), government officials, diplomats, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries.

The event will be broadcast live on GH Parliament TV and major national media platforms. Enditem
