Mahama delivers second state of the nation address

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday delivered the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second coming to Parliament, outlining the government’s achievements over the past year, challenges facing the country, and key priorities for 2026.

In his address, the President focused on economic recovery and stability, measures to control inflation, stabilise the cedi, reduce debt, and boost investor confidence.

The President outlined job creation and youth employment measures including expansion of skills training, entrepreneurship support, and industrialisation programmes.

On energy and infrastructure, President Mahama announced efforts by his government to improve power reliability, road construction, and housing development.

To improve education and quality health delivery, the president outlined investments in schools, teacher recruitment, healthcare delivery, and hospital upgrades.

He announced renewed commitment by the government to fighting corruption, improving public sector efficiency, and strengthening democratic institutions.

The President also called for national unity and bipartisan cooperation to accelerate development and ensure sustainable economic growth. Enditem
