The African Union (AU) has appointed Ghana’s former President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead its Elections Observation Mission in the Republic of Congo next week, according to a statement from the office of the former President.
Presidential elections are due in the Central African country on 15th March, 2026.
The AU Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) will comprise members of the AU Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC); Pan African Parliament (PAP); African Governance Platform; election management bodies; independent election experts, civil society organizations, and representatives of women’s and youth groups.
Former President Akufo-Addo is expected to leave Accra on Friday, 13th March, and return on 18th March, 2026.
