Ghana’s economy recorded a 6-percent growth rate in 2025, up from 5.8 percent in 2024, according to data released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on Tuesday.
Excluding petroleum production, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7.6 percent in 2025, up from 6.1 percent the previous year.
Addressing a press briefing in Accra, the capital, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than in 2024.
“The services sector, with a share of 45.9 percent in the economy, remained the largest contributor to economic activity, growing by 8.1 percent,” Iddrisu said.
Compared with 2024, the agriculture sector, with a 22.8 percent share of total GDP, expanded by 6.8 percent in 2025, up from 2.7 percent the previous year.
The industry sector, which accounts for 31.3 percent of GDP, however, recorded a 2.3-percent decline in growth in 2025, compared with 7.2 percent in 2024.
According to Iddrisu, Ghana’s economy remains services-led, with information and communication, education, transport and storage, and financial and insurance activities as the main drivers of the sector.
