At least a total of 7,000 teachers will be recruited across Ghana as part of efforts to strengthen the education sector and address staffing gaps in schools, particularly in underserved communities, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu announced on Wednesday.
The minister made the announcement during a media briefing, where he outlined key details of the upcoming recruitment exercise.
According to the him, the application process will officially commence on April 10, 2026, when the recruitment portal will be opened to eligible applicants.
“I am happy to note and announce that the Ministry of Education has received clearance and approval from the Ministry of Finance for the recruitment of teachers across the country. We will be recruiting at least 7,000 teachers. We want the process to be open, transparent, and competitive,” said the Education Minister.
“Therefore, graduates from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 cohorts may apply for placement as teachers across the country. Priority will be given to those who are ready and willing to serve in those deprived and safe areas,” he added.
The opportunity is expected to provide employment for thousands of trained teachers while also improving teacher distribution across the country. Enditem
