Interceptions were seen in the skies of Zarqa, Jordan on Thursday, as the armed forces reported ‘eight Iranian missiles’ had been shot down.
According to the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces, “Air defence systems shot down, at dawn today, eight Iranian missiles that were targeting the kingdom’s territory… “the interception operation was carried out within the framework of approved defensive and operational procedures, in order to safeguard the kingdom’s sovereignty.”
No injuries or material damage was reported.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced that it had “launched two waves of ballistic missile strikes,” claiming that they “targeted and destroyed the American fighter aircraft maintenance platform and the new American command and control centre for the West Asia region inside Azraq Air Base in Jordan.”
This comes amid renewed escalation between the US and Iran. Washington launched waves of strikes, while Tehran responded by targeting US assets in the region.
