Asante Kotoko have been crowned 2026 Democracy Cup champions after defeating arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 4-1 on penalties at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.

The match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes, forcing the trophy to be decided through a penalty shootout. Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad emerged as the hero, saving two penalties to inspire the Porcupine Warriors to victory.

The triumph gives Kotoko their second Democracy Cup title, having won the inaugural edition in 2024, while Hearts of Oak won the 2025 edition.

The 2026 Democracy Cup was organised to commemorate thirty-two (32) years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana. Enditem
