An Accra High Court on Wednesday issued a warrant authorising the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The court also granted EOCO the authority to search for and seize documents relevant to its ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at SIC Life Savings and Loans. The warrant is to be executed through the Speaker of Parliament.
EOCO told the court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance and expressed concern that relevant documents could be concealed, altered or destroyed.
The development follows an attempted arrest of Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23. EOCO says it had invited him twice in February 2026 in connection with the investigation.
Baffour Awuah has disputed EOCO’s account, saying the February invitation was addressed to him as Senior Partner of his law firm and that a representative subsequently cooperated with investigators. Enditem
