Polo Beach Club brought down as La Beach demolition exercise continues

Polo Beach Club, a popular entertainment facility near the Labadi Beach Resort in Accra, has been demolished as part of an ongoing exercise to clear structures along the La Beach area.

The demolition took place on Friday, October 2, 2026, in a joint operation involving personnel from the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service.

The exercise follows the earlier demolition of La Pleasure Beach and other structures in the area. Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Stan Dogbe, said the La Beach demolitions were being carried out by National Security and were separate from the government’s flood-mitigation exercise.

The demolition comes amid a land dispute involving Polo Beach Club and Labadi Beach Hotel, with the club having previously sought an injunction to prevent its demolition while the dispute was before the courts. Enditem
