Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has been elected National Chairman of the party.
Boadu polled 2,888 votes at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026. He defeated Boakye Agyarko, who obtained 2,048 votes, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko, who polled 490 votes.
His election comes as the NPP reorganises its national leadership ahead of the 2028 general elections. Boadu has pledged to build a renewed party that listens and consults more and to work closely with the party’s structures nationwide. Enditem
