The RSF-backed Government of Peace and Unity, the parallel administration established by the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis), delivered three new machines to the dialysis centre at Nyala Specialized Hospital on September 30, helping restore capacity at a facility serving patients from across Darfur.
Footage filmed on Wednesday shows patients receiving treatment at the centre, with dialysis machines beside their beds as medical staff tend to them.
Despite the new equipment, staff say the centre remains under heavy pressure.
“As has been mentioned, the centre is suffering from a severe shortage of dialysis supplies. A shipment arrived a few days ago, and we thank the Tasis Government for bringing us some supplies, including water used for dialysis, artificial kidneys and the powder used in the dialysis process. They also brought us three machines, and all three have now entered service,” medical technician Hussein Musa said.
The centre is one of the main dialysis facilities serving patients from Darfur’s five states, and is one of the largest in the region.
Patients and families welcomed the fresh supply of essential equipment, resulting in urgent care for loved ones.
“When we came here, we faced difficulties due to the lack of water used for dialysis, and that was an obstacle for us. But now, thank God, there are no difficulties, and the situation is improving, God willing,” shared a relative of a patient.
On September 30, Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi inaugurated the new machines and visited patients at the centre.
The delivery followed a September visit by World Health Organisation and UN officials to medical facilities across Nyala, including Nyala Specialised Hospital and the dialysis centre, to assess shortages and other pressures facing the city’s health system.
The Government of Peace and Unity has also moved to ease restrictions on humanitarian organisations operating in areas under its control. Under Decision No. 10 of 2026, issued on September 28, its Council of Ministers simplified some registration procedures and lifted the suspension of Medecins Sans Frontieres France.
