Moscow: African leaders greeted with tea ahead of landmark summit

World leaders and representatives from across Africa touched down for the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on Tuesday.

Footage shows the welcome delegation greeting the high-ranking guests at Domodedovo Airport – and treating them to traditional tea and Russian snacks. Among those arriving were Southern African Development Community Executive Secretary Elias Mpedi Magosi, African Union Commission Chair Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Economic Community of Central African States Commission President Ezechiel Nibigira.

The Russia-Africa Media Forum is part of the programme for the third Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled for October 28-29 in Moscow.

The forum brings together heads of African news agencies and media corporations to discuss the influence and reach of media in countries of the Global Majority – on world affairs, the development of independent media in Africa and the role of media platforms in combating disinformation.

The event includes a media forum bringing together heads of African media outlets, while a youth forum will take place at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
