Police nab 22 for fatal attack on travelers in central Nigeria

At least 22 people suspected of involvement in a recent fatal attack on travelers that left eight people dead in central Nigeria’s Plateau State have been arrested, according to police.

   Alabo Alfred, police spokesperson in Plateau State, said in a statement late Saturday that the fatal mob attack on travelers, who were identified as wedding guests from neighboring Kaduna State, occurred late Friday in the Mangu local government area.

   The suspected mob allegedly intercepted the victims’ bus and set it ablaze, killing at least eight people and injuring seven others. A total of 21 people were rescued, 14 of whom were unharmed.

   Police said they arrested 22 suspects during a security operation in the area on Saturday.

   The police statement added that an investigation has been launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack.  Enditem
