The Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok recorded its highest temperature in 55 years on Friday, which reached 31.4 degrees Celsius, local meteorological authorities said.
According to the Primorye Hydrometeorological Service, the previous temperature record for this date was set in 1970, at exactly 30 degrees Celsius.
Friday’s temperature surpassed that mark by 1.4 degrees, setting a new historical high.
Meteorologists attributed the abnormal heat to the influence of a Pacific anticyclone ridge, which was driving an exceptionally warm and dry air mass. Enditem
