China eyes advancing practical cooperation with Ghana: spokesperson

China stands ready to work with Ghana to further strengthen practical cooperation in various areas on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of China-Ghana diplomatic ties, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday.

   Mao made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to view China’s ties with Ghana.

   Ghana is among the first sub-Saharan countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, Mao said, adding that it is also the first sub-Saharan country that Chinese leader visited.

   Noting that the two countries enjoy a time-honored and enduring friendship, Mao said that over the past 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have maintained sound and steady growth, political mutual trust has been deepened, and practical cooperation has borne fruitful results in various areas.

   Last year, the two countries established a strategic partnership, Mao said.

   China is willing to work with Ghana to further deepen traditional friendship, enhance political mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation in various areas, have closer coordination and collaboration in international affairs, solidify the China-Ghana strategic partnership, and deliver more tangibly for the two peoples, the spokesperson said.  Enditem
