Chad unveils 24-man squad for World Cup qualifiers

Chadian head coach of the national men’s football team Raoul Savoy on Friday announced a 24-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana and Madagascar.

At a press conference to unveil the list, Savoy said he has chosen a squad that combines experience and youthfulness.

Key players in the defense include Ebenezer Ngardial and Yves Allarabaye. In the midfield, the contributions of Franky Tchaouna and Eric Mbangossoum will be crucial in stabilizing the game. The attack relies in particular on Haroun Tchaouna and Amine Hiver, who will be expected to demonstrate their effectiveness in front of the goal, Savoy said.

“The 24 players are motivated and ready to represent the nation, especially in the match against Ghana,” Savoy told reporters at the press conference.

Chad will host Ghana on September 4 and take on Madagascar four days later.

The match against Ghana will be staged at Marshal Idriss Deby Itno Olympic Stadium, a China-donated 30,000-seat stadium that was inaugurated in May. It will be the first official match at the new stadium.

On Thursday, the Chadian FA announced that the country’s president, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, has covered the cost of all 30,000 seats to encourage fans to attend the match.  Enditem
