Adutwum files NPP nomination, pledges to run a clean, respectful campaign

Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, filed his nomination Thursday afternoon to take part in the upcoming presidential primary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking to party supporters who thronged the NPP headquarters to support him, the legislator pledged to run a clean and respectful campaign as he seeks to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2026 general elections.

According to him, his campaign is going to be grounded in ideas and policies rather than personal attacks.

“We will shape the foundation of our party and the nation. I come to this process with humility. I am going to run a very clean campaign, one that will talk about what I have done and what I will do for my party and for my nation. A campaign without acrimony, without insults, and full of respect. That is what my campaign will be about,” said Dr. Adutwum.

The former Education Ministers joins other prominent contenders who have filed to contest in the party’s primaries, including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, and Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong.

The main opposition party is scheduled to hold presidential election on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2028 general election. Enditem
