Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is projected to win the January 31 presidential primary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to the final poll released on Monday by the Africa Policy Lens (APL).

According to the survey, Bawumia is projected to receive around 61 percent of the vote, while former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the closest contender, trails at about 25.10 percent.

Other aspirants, such as Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Bosomtwe Constituency MP Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong registered much smaller percentages.

The survey also stated that about 8 percent of the delegates remain undecided, while a small fraction say they won’t vote.

These results, if they hold, would position Bawumia for a first-round victory in the Jan. 31 primary, avoiding a runoff.

Other polls have shown varying leads (including some where Hon. Kennedy Agyapong leads), reflecting a highly competitive environment as delegates’ choices evolve. Enditem
