The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) is urging residents in possession of any part of the helicopter and other belongings recovered to claim a cash reward, according to a statement on Sunday.
The statement, signed by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, asked all in possession of such debris to return it by Monday, August 11, 2025.
The appeal follows reports picked up by the Ghanaian authorities that some of the local people who got to the scene of the GAF Z9 helicopter crash site picked up some parts of the aircraft and other belongings that are essential for investigations.
“The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council is admonishing any person in possession of any part of the helicopter or belongings recovered to return these items. This includes all items no matter how small, such as metals, screws, drives, or boards,” read the statement.
“The ARCC is willing to offer a cash reward for any person who willingly returns any item. This offer will be in place until the close of day, Monday, August 11, 2025,” it added.
The Ghanaian authorities, however, warned persons found with those items beyond the stipulated date would be deemed criminals and be made to face the full rigors of the law.
A Ghana Armed Forces chopper crashed on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, when it departed from Accra at 9.12 am for Obuasi for an official Ghana government program.
The crash resulted in the death of all eight on board—3crew and 5 passengers, including two cabinet ministers. Enditem
