Asante Kotoko beat Dreams FC 1-0 to end winless run

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

An 80th-minute goal by Kwame Opoku secured all three points for Asante Kotoko in the 14th match of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The match was tightly fought and physically demanding, with both sides struggling to create clear openings.

However, Opoku proved the difference, scoring the decisive goal from close range after Dreams’ defense failed to clear their lines.

The forward had earlier missed a good chance but made amends with a left-footed finish that squeezed past the onrushing goalkeeper Osman Rahman.

Dreams FC pushed for an equalizer late on and came agonizingly close in the closing minutes, but their effort was cleared off the line.

The chance lacked the necessary power, allowing Kotoko to survive a tense finish as they defended resolutely to protect their slender lead.

Kotoko enjoyed a slight edge in possession, though both teams registered the same number of shots on target.

Sunday’s win brings an end to Kotoko’s four-match winless run and lifts them to third place on the league table. Dreams FC, meanwhile, slip back into the relegation zone. Enditem
