The Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will continue his efforts at resolving the Bawku conflict on Monday, according to a statement from the Manhyia Palace.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will meet with the Kusang Traditional Council, one of the factions in the age-old Bawku conflict.
“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will meet with the Kusang Traditional Council on Monday, 30th June, 2025,” said the statement.
The Asantehene requested all stakeholders to cooperate with the process to find lasting peace in the Bawku area.
The Bawku crisis, rooted in longstanding ethnic and chieftaincy disputes, has seen periodic flare-ups resulting in casualties, displacement, and heightened security concerns.
On April 13, 2025, three people were killed, including two young police officers.
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama recently appointed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to lead the mediation efforts at Bawku to find a lasting peace to the conflict. Enditem
