Asantehene to present Bawku mediation report to Mahama Dec. 16

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to present the Bawku conflict mediation report to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, according to the Presidency on Tuesday.

Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, observed that the presentation will take place at the Presidency at 4:00 p.m.

President John Dramani Mahama, earlier this year, appointed the Asantehene to lead efforts aimed at resolving the decades-long chieftaincy dispute in Bawku.

His mediation work began in April, when he met with representatives from both factions to initiate dialogue. Although discussions were temporarily suspended, they resumed in May, contributing to a period of relative calm in the conflict-prone area.

The Bawku municipality has experienced recurring violence and social tension for some time now, resulting in loss of lives, curfews, and widespread disruption of local livelihoods. Enditem
