Bawumia mourns the passing of Kristo Asafo founder Apostle Kwadwo Safo

Former Vice and Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general election Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed deep sadness at the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia described him as a pioneering innovator, spiritual leader, and true patriot whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of Ghanaians.

He paid glowing tribute to the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Church, recognizing his far-reaching contributions that extended well beyond the pulpit.

“Apostle Safo served Ghana beyond the capacity of a religious leader,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

He praised him for pioneering indigenous innovations and for inspiring an industrial spirit amongst Ghanaians.

He noted Apostle Safo’s philanthropic efforts and his dedication to improving the lives of the less privileged.

On a personal note, Bawumia said that whenever he met Apostle Safo, he left with “lasting words of encouragement and wisdom,” adding that “as a religious leader, his open arms received me.”

He also called on Ghanaians to carry forward Apostle Safo’s legacy: to believe in local solutions, serve communities, and put Ghana first.

He extended condolences to the Safo family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all who mourn, calling the loss irreparable.

Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group, died Thursday, September 11, 2025, at age 77.

His death is being widely mourned for his contributions in religion, innovation, manufacturing, and philanthropy. End item
