Former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday expressed his deepest condolences for the tragic loss of two ministers and six other persons.
In a statement, Bawumia, also the 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), described the news as heart-wrenching.
“A while ago, I communicated to the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, my deepest condolences following the heart-wrenching news of the loss of two of our nation’s ministers and six others in a helicopter crash earlier today,” said the former vice president.
He observed that the eight persons died in the line of duty for their nation but emphasized it was quite unfortunate to have died in such a manner.
“The fallen men paid the ultimate price in the service of our motherland, leaving a shocked nation in pain. I know most of the deceased personally and equally feel a sense of loss to see their demise under such horrid circumstances,” added Dr. Bawumia.
He prayed for strength and healing for the bereaved families, the government, and the people of Ghana in this time of tragedy.
