Ghana’s senior women’s football national team, the Black Queens, have been drawn in Group D in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), according to the final draw held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday.

The Black Queens were drawn alongside Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde and will come up against each of them in the group stages of the competition.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku said past performances of the Queens have prepared them for the challenge ahead and ready to face any team.

“The Black Queens should be able to play against any side on the African continent if you want to become a champion. On the back of the fact that Ghana were third at the last WAFCON, Ghana should be ready to face any opponent,” said Okraku moments after the draw.

The 2026 WAFCON, hosted by Morocco, is scheduled from March 17 to April 3, and the tournament presents not only a chance for continental glory but also a pathway to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

A semi-final finish by any of the teams guarantees qualification to the next World Cup, a feat Ghana has been attempting since 2007. Enditem
