Black Queens safe in the Middle East – FM confirms amidst U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran

Ghana’s female senior football national team, the Black Queens are safe in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed on Sunday.

According to a post on his X page, formerly Twitter, Mr. Ablakwa observed that Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE have been in close contact with the team extending the needed consular support.

“Ghana’s celebrated Black Queens are safe and doing well. I have spoken with the leadership of the team. Our diplomatic mission in UAE has been in close contact with the Black Queens extending the needed consular support,” read the post.

He assured the safety of Ghanaians caught up in the Middle East remains the utmost priority of the government.

“In this turbulent moment, the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians, particularly those currently in the Middle East remains our utmost priority,” added the post.

The Black Queens are currently in the UAE participating in Pink Ladies Cup. The Queens defeated Hong Kong, China 4-0 in the opening match on Saturday.

The team is scheduled to take on Russia in matchday 2 and later Tanzania in the tournament. Enditem
