Ghana’s female senior football national team, the Black Queens, will play in a four-nation Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this month, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed on Friday.
According to the FA, the tournament is scheduled to run from Feb. 28 to March 6, this year providing the team with a competitive platform to fine-tune the squad, test tactical combinations and build match fitness ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Pinks Ladies Cup, which brings together national teams from different parts of the world, is widely regarded as a high-level tournament and this year’s edition features Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong and Tanzania.
Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren is seeking to use the tournament to assess both experienced players and emerging talents as he shapes the squad for WAFCON.
The team is aiming to win their first continental title and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Ghana will begin their WAFCON campaign on March 18, against Cape Verde. Enditem
