“Bring Back the Amphitheater – James Clarke Urges”

Entertainment pundit, actor, and journalist Mr. James Clarke has called on the government to revive the abandoned amphitheater project, describing it as a vital infrastructure that could transform Ghana’s Creative Arts Industry.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s Entertainment Lounge show hosted by Odeefour Diasapapa, Mr. Clarke expressed disappointment over the stalled project, which was initiated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey in 2023.

According to him, the ultra-modern open-air amphitheater, which was expected to serve as a venue for performances, film premieres, and various entertainment events, has not seen any progress since the sod-cutting ceremony.

“The amphitheater would provide a dedicated space for the Creative Arts industry to thrive. It would help industry players plan and host events affordably while enhancing the overall entertainment experience for Ghanaians,” Clarke stated.

He emphasized that the facility, once completed, could be rented at lower costs because it is a government asset, potentially reducing ticket prices and making events more accessible to the public.

“We all support government assets that benefit the industry. This amphitheater would help cut costs and support local talent,” he added.

Mr. Clarke further urged the media to hold the Deputy Minister accountable by seeking updates on the project, stressing that such a crucial initiative should not be allowed to vanish.

“We can’t sit down and watch this important project disappear. Hon. Okraku-Mantey must be asked to show us the way forward,” he concluded.
