Cape Verde to suspend shipments of parcels valued at over 100 USD to U.S.

Cape Verde Post said Wednesday it will suspend shipments of parcels valued at over 100 U.S. dollars to the United States starting Friday, citing operational adjustments.

The decision was made following the U.S. removal of the de minimis treatment, which had allowed goods worth less than 800 dollars to enter the country duty-free, said Isidoro Gomes, president of the country’s postal service.

With the change, all imports into the United States will be subject to applicable taxes, except for non-commercial shipments under 100 dollars, such as gifts between individuals, he said.  Enditem
