Cote d’Ivoire is targeting a daily oil output of 200,000 barrels by the year 2030, up from the current daily production of less than 100,000 barrels, according to a government master plan.
The new oil and gas logistics master plan, which runs through 2050, was presented by Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly on Thursday during the inauguration of a new oil dock of the National Petroleum Operations Company of Cote d’Ivoire (PETROCI), along with the launch of festivities marking the 50th anniversary of PETROCI.
Under the master plan, by 2030, Cote d’Ivoire will achieve a daily output of 200,000 barrels of crude oil and 600 million cubic feet of natural gas.
Projections for 2035 indicate a daily production of 500,000 barrels of crude oil and more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
“By then, our country will be among the top five oil producers on the African continent,” Sangafowa-Coulibaly said.
The minister said that investment in oil and gas production would be primarily driven by the private sector, but with significant contribution from the public sector.
He said PETROCI’s new oil dock now provides Cote d’Ivoire with the capacity to accommodate large-tonnage oil tankers in compliance with international safety standards.
“This strategic infrastructure thus strengthens the reliability of Cote d’Ivoire’s petroleum product supply chain,” Sangafowa-Coulibaly said. Enditem
