A Chinese defense spokesperson said on Wednesday that defense and military leaders from over 100 countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, France, Nigeria and Brazil, have confirmed their attendance at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum to be held in mid-September.
The attendees will also include representatives of international and regional organizations, said Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, at a regular press conference.
Jiang noted that this year’s forum has drawn participants from a broader range of countries, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and openness.
He said that preparations for the forum are basically complete. The event will feature four plenary sessions and eight parallel sessions, focusing on global security governance, Asia-Pacific security cooperation, safeguarding the international order and building regional peace.
According to Jiang, the forum will also host academic activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
These events aim to encourage countries to work together to safeguard the victorious outcome of the World Anti-Fascist War and the post-war international order, and to explore effective ways to resolve conflicts, he said. Enditem
