The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has cautioned party members against allowing political opponents, particularly the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), to infiltrate their ranks and sow seeds of disunity.
Addressing a large gathering of party faithful at Agona Swedru in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region during a ‘Thank-You Tour,’ Mr Asiedu Nketia said internal divisions have often accounted for the party’s inability to retain the parliamentary seat in the constituency.
He explained that the NPP has consistently exploited divisions among NDC executives in the area, creating confusion that weakens the party’s electoral fortunes. According to him, such tactics have undermined the party’s chances of maintaining its hold on the constituency over the years.
Mr Asiedu Nketia called on party executives and supporters in the Agona West Constituency to bury their differences and forge a united front to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general election.
He cautioned against complacency, noting that victory in 2028 is not guaranteed, despite the optimism among some NDC supporters. He stressed that the NPP is actively reorganising and working hard to regain political power.
The NDC National Chairman thus urged party members to remain vigilant, committed, and hardworking to ensure the party retains power in the next general elections. Enditem
