Two out of the eight victims of the military helicopter crash who are Muslim, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, were laid to rest at the Military Cemetery near Burma Camp in the Ghanaian capital on Sunday.
In line with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers were held earlier at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The burial service was attended by high-profile personalities, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, National Chief Imam Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, families of the victims, government officials, Members of Parliament, the Muslim community, and members of the public.
President Mahama prayed to Allah to grant paradise to Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, former Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, as well as Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, former Deputy National Security Coordinator.

A Ghana Armed Forces chopper crashed on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, when it departed from Accra at 9.12 am for Obuasi for an official Ghana government program.
The crash resulted in the death of all eight on board—3crew and 5 passengers, including two cabinet ministers.
With the two Muslims buried, six more are to be buried in the coming days, and the state is scheduled to hold a funeral for them on Friday, August 15, 2025. Enditem
