Drones shot down in Poland come from Ukraine: Russian diplomat

The drones, which penetrated the Polish airspace and were intercepted, were from Ukraine, Russia’s Charge d’Affaires in Poland Andrey Ordash said Wednesday.

The Polish foreign ministry summoned the Russian diplomat on Wednesday over the alleged violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones.

“We know one thing, these drones flew from Ukraine,” said Ordash, cited by the TASS news agency. He previously claimed that Warsaw’s accusations were completely groundless.

He received a protest note from the Polish side, said Ordash, noting that “no evidence was presented that these drones were of Russian origin.”

The Russian defense ministry said Wednesday that no targets on the Polish territory were planned for destruction, clarifying that the maximum flight range of the Russian drones used in strikes on Ukraine does not exceed 700 km.

“Nevertheless, we are ready to hold consultations with the Polish Defense Ministry on the issue,” the Russian ministry said.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Wednesday on the social platform X that the Polish airspace was violated by a “huge number of Russian drones” and some posed a “direct threat.”

The Polish air forces shot down multiple drones in the country after detecting repeated airspace violations overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to a statement from the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command.  Enditem
