The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it will commence phase two of the government’s ongoing transformer replacement and upgrade programme from April 14, according to a statement over the weekend.
The statement signed by the Acting Director of Communications, Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku announced the successful completion of phase one of the transformer replacement and upgrade pogramme at the Nmai Dzorn Primary Substation.
“Following this milestone, ECG will proceed with Phase Two of the project at the Lashibi Primary Substation. The Phase Two is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 14th April 2026, and will be completed on Thursday, 16th April 2026,” read the statement.
“As with phase one, the exercise will involve brief planned power outages in the affected areas to ensure the safety of ECG personnel and the successful execution of the works. Detailed outage schedule, including specific time blocks and groupings, has been attached to this press release and will also be communicated through ECG’s official communication channels,” said.
“ECG assures all customers that appropriate measures have been put in place to minimise the duration and impact of the outages,” it added.
The upgrade of equipment, according to the ECG, forms part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening infrastructure, reducing system overloads, and delivering improved and reliable electricity services.
ECG expressed its appreciation to the public for the continued patience, cooperation, and understanding as these essential infrastructure upgrades were carried out.
The company advised consumers to plan accordingly during the period of upgrading exercise. Enditem
