Ethiopia deepens strategic ties through high-level engagements at BRICS Summit: FM

Strategic diplomatic engagements at the 17th BRICS Summit have strengthened Ethiopia’s strategic relations with the bloc’s member countries, Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos has said.

   In a media briefing on Monday, the foreign minister noted that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a series of high-level diplomatic engagements with leaders of key partner countries on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit, which was held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday and Monday.

   Timothewos said these engagements offered “valuable opportunities” to deepen bilateral ties, while fostering greater understanding and support for Ethiopia’s development priorities and strategies.

   The foreign minister further underlined Ethiopia’s keen resolve to exchange experiences with BRICS member countries, as he outlined areas of cooperation where Ethiopia can both benefit from and contribute to, including technology transfer, investment cooperation, and knowledge sharing.  Enditem
