Three people were killed and scores of people burnt on Saturday on the Accra-Suhum dual carriage highway, in the Eastern Region, police have confirmed in a statement.
The deceased, according to the police, include two unidentified male charred bodies and one other unidentified body in one of the burnt vehicles.

According to the statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) David Fianko-Okyere, Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Region Command, preliminary investigation indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the bulk blasting with the fuel splashing on vehicles behind it.

“On Saturday, February 14, 2026 a fuel tanker loaded with petrol from Tema to Kumasi was involved in an accident on reaching a section of the road at Ntoaso on the Accra-Suhum dual carriage road. Two unidentified male charred bodies were also found at the scene and one unidentified body in one of the burnt vehicles,” read the statement.

The police further stated there were six vehicles and four motorcycles burnt during the explosion.

Meanwhile, the police, according to the statement, have commenced visits to nearby health facilities to identify victims, while the accident vehicles were removed from the scene to ease traffic on the stretch. Enditem
