GAF says publication alleging failure of 60% military recruits attributed to HIV fake

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said that an alleged publication claiming that 60 percent of applicants into the service tested positive for HIV is fake, according to a statement late Sunday.

The statement, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General in charge of Public Relations, the GAF has not released any results to that effect as the process is still ongoing.

“The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces has been drawn to a publication circulating in the media, alleging that 60 percent of applicants tested for military medical screening were found to be HIV positive. The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is fake news and should be ignored by all. The medical process is ongoing, and no results have been declared as at now,” read the statement.

The GAF assured that it has commenced investigations to trace the originators of the said fake publication. Enditem
