The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced investigations into an alleged assault of a teacher of Kade Senior High Technical School by former students, a statement announced on Wednesday.
According to the statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Affairs, the preliminary report by the GES indicates that the incident did happen on October 5 this year, in which the aggrieved students assaulted the teacher allegedly because he was strict on them during the invigilation of the Christian Religious Studies WASSCE 2025 paper.
The GES condemned the act and assured the students will be made to face appropriate sanctions.
“The attention of the management of the Ghana Education Service has been drawn to a video circulating widely on social media that captures an unfortunate assault on Mr. Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School, by some past students of the school.” Read the statement.
Management condemns the assault in the strongest terms, as such behavior is unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession. The students shall face the appropriate sanctions provided by law and GES regulations to ensure justice is duly served,” it added.
The Education Service assured teachers across the country of their support in instilling discipline and ensuring the integrity of examinations.
It further urged students to uphold discipline and respect authority. Enditem
