GES to conduct full-scale probe into allegations of malpractice in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it will conduct a full-scale investigation into reports of alleged examination malpractice during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), according to a statement on Sunday.

The statement comes on the back of a purported documentary by Accra-based JoyNews that reportedly highlighted instances of cheating among some schools in this year’s BECE.

Head of Public Relations for the GES, Daniel Fenyi, assured the public that the service would secure the full documentary and transcripts for scrutiny.

“A copy of the full documentary with the original transcripts will be obtained and scrutinized immediately, after which a full-scale investigation will be conducted into the allegations,” read the statement.

GES emphasized its strong stance against cheating in examinations, describing it as a major threat to the education system.

“Cheating undermines the integrity of our education system, destroys meritocracy, and produces graduates who lack the competencies required for national development,” the statement further noted.

The Education Service further assured stakeholders of its collaboration with the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Security, and law enforcement agencies to address the issue. Enditem
