Ghana on Saturday bid its final farewell to highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following a well-attended funeral ceremony marked by deep emotion, music, and tributes at the Heroes Park in Kumasi.
The burial rites brought together family members, traditional authorities, musicians, political figures, and thousands of fans who gathered to honor one of Ghana’s most influential and celebrated musicians. The atmosphere blended grief with celebration, as mourners sang along to his timeless songs—many of which defined generations and reshaped modern highlife music.
The solemn but celebratory ceremony reflected the immense impact of Daddy Lumba’s music career, which spanned decades and produced timeless classics that shaped modern Ghanaian highlife and popular music. Tributes poured in from fellow artists, political figures, and admirers who described him as a musical genius whose songs spoke to love, social life, and everyday struggles.
Clad in black and red, mourners sang along to his songs as his body was laid in state, celebrating a life that transformed Ghana’s music industry and inspired generations of artists.
