A goal in each half secured a two-nil victory for Japan over the Black Stars of Ghana at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, Japan, on Friday.

Takumi Minamino’s right-footed shot from the center of the box to the right corner of Ghana’s goalpost in the 16th minute gave the home side an early lead.

With the home fans behind their team, Japan persisted in increasing the tally but failed to score till the end of the first half.

Back from recess, Ghana tried to find the equalizer; however, Japan added another goal in the 60th minute through Ritsu Doan, bringing the scoreline to 2-0 in favor of the Asian side till the end of the game.

The defeat to the West African side is the first in the last six matches.

Ghana has already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the friendly is used by coach Otto Addo to test the team’s readiness ahead of the World Cup. Enditem
