Ghana has recorded its first death from Mpox, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) confirmed in its latest update released on Sunday.

In a post on its official X page, formerly Twitter, the Ghanaian authorities announced that 23 new cases have been recorded as of July 22, bringing the total to 257.

“Unfortunately, one new death has been reported,” said the GHS.

The GHS observed that mpox mainly spreads through close contact with infected persons and advised the public to avoid close contact with infected individuals and wash their hands with soap under running water regularly.

It also urged the people to report symptoms of mpox early to the nearest health facility for treatment. Enditem
